Picking the right combination of fantasy races and unique special powers, players must rush to expand their empires often at the expense of weaker neighbors. Yet they must also know when to push their own over extended civilization into decline and ride a new one to victory.

Small World is simple token conquest game that fuses simple addictive gameplay with comic elements and produces a game that anyone can learn by the end of their first game, but it will see plenty of return trips to the table.
The gameplay doesn’t involve any luck it’s a simple case of needing so many tokens to invade a territory. How many tokens you need to take a region depends on the special abilities and racial attributes of the invading race. There are different boards to use depending on how many players are playing, but all of them force players into invading each other for resources sooner rather than later. Over the course of the game players races will dwindle and eventually go into decline, but players can select a new race and invade small world again will renewed vigour. It’s a fast paced game, well thought out and balanced nicely. The random combinations of race and ability can lead to amusing scenarios such as when the merchant skeletons flying dwarves.
Overall I could not recommend small world enough if you are looking for a light accessible and strategic board game that will take an hour or so to play.
